This system makes it possible to reduce
the heat gain of concrete during hot conditions, specially while loaded
mixers are waiting to unload into concrete pumps and/or concrete buckets.
The drum is equipped with double walled insulation with special foam,
protected by an outer steel zinc coated wall 1 mm in thickness. Using
this type of protected drum you can keep the concrete temperature inside
the drum stable during the transport. Field practice shows that the
amount of chilled water or ice used to prepare the concrete can be
reduced. This reduction cannot be theoretically fixed because it depends
on the outside temperature, the loading temperature of the concrete and
the type of cement used. Using LT CCD mixing drums gives you these
advantages compared with standard mixers:
1. The truck mixers can be kept waiting in the sun before loading,
within heating up the mixer drum inside walls.
2. No cement will stick on the drum walls and mixing blades due the
acceleration of the cement chemical reaction due to overheating.
3. Up to one hour of safe transport time no heat gain. The concrete
temperature will be kept stable even with outside temperature of +45°C –
35°C.
